Recyclops Web Identity
Project Overview
Recyclops is a technology-driven startup innovating accessible solutions for sustainability, starting with doorstep recycling services. As the full-time Lead UI Designer, I was tasked with a complete overhaul of the Recyclops website—from interface to user experience—with a focus on improving both functionality and conversion across consumer and business audiences.
The redesign had clear, high-impact goals:
Increase customer signups (with a push toward annual subscriptions)
Improve education and behavior around proper recycling
Resolve usability pain points in navigation, customer support access, and service info
Distinctly separate B2C and B2B user flows for improved clarity and funnel performance
Through close collaboration with marketing, product, and development teams, I implemented a strategy that paired strong visual design with improved UX flow—and the data proved the results.
What was accomplished?
1. Increased Annual Signups & Conversion Rates
- Exit rate decreased from 37.77% to 31.70%
- Annual plan adoption jumped from 8% to 45% of total subscriptions
- Website traffic grew to 96,000 average monthly visitors
2. Reduced Customer Recycling Contamination
- “What Can Be Recycled” redesign helped drop contamination from 15% to 11%
- Prominent homepage blog integration increased user engagement with educational content
3. Reduced problems with finding locations, finding pickup schedules, and making customer service requests.
- Hotjar complaints regarding inability to find locations, pickup schedules, and customer service requests decreased by 58%.
- Website redesign added call to actions that worked more effectively than before.
